- International Cricket Council (ICC) is in talks with the Sports Medicine Centre of the Sri Ramachandra Medical Sciences (SRMC) hospital in Hyderabad for a state-of-the-art Corrective Action Centre.
- This is directed to the bowlers who breach the the 15-degree flexion rule. Earlier bowlers from the Indian and South African subcontinent had to travel all the way to Australia to undergo correction.
- SRMC has signed an MoU with the University of Cape Town to benefit from the latest technology.
- Facilities:
- Biomechanics wing: facilities to assess the bowler’s action from every angle using a combination of retro-reflective sensors on the bowler’s body and 3-D cameras to produce image fragments that are then processed.
- Force Plate: to measure the pressure exerted by the bowler is also available. This will help prevent injuries and help in rehabilitation too.
- High altitude chambers that simulate low oxygen levels prevalent in high altitude areas.
- Isokinetic muscles that indicate muscle deficit.
- Treadmills that display lung capacity and measure anaerobic threshold.
- The injury prevention and rehabilitation wing of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be shifted here.
