Home Ministry reviews VIP security

  • Ravi Shankar Prasad of BJP delegation demanded security, assertively based on Intelligence Bureau sources that there was a threat on top party leaders cite media reports.
  • Home ministry is requested to take steps to ensure foolproof safety as their leaders travel to different parts of the nation for campaign during election time.
  • The Special Protection Group and the National Security Guard are set to protect VIPs,there security arrangements are reviewed by the Union Home Ministry ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
  • The security need to be provided to individuals and VIPs at diverse level of threat in Four categories :
    • Z-plus security including deployment of 36 guards for people with highest level of threat.
    • Z category VIPs provided with 22 guards.
    • Y category with 11 guards
    • and for X category with 2 guards.
