- While Mr.Modi’s government plans to ease the governors Vice-Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), M. Sashidhar Reddy, and five of the eight members of the body had put in their papers
- Mr.Reddy opines that Mr.Modi should take a call and decisions to reconstitute the authority
- Government appoints several national commissions, councils, committees and groups and NDMA is one among them
- Mr.Reddy will serve as vide chairman till one takes over, he has further clarified that he did not receive acceptance from the PMO’s office
- Indications are that the government wants to reconstitute National Commissions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and Backward Classes and Women committees as well
- Mr.Reddy is firm Mr.Modi should have freedom to reconstitute the body according to his vision and the roadmap he has for disaster management
