Gender Justice and Community Based Policing – Keralas example of Good Policing initiatives

Top Police officers posted to Kerala

  • The Government has reshuffled all the higher police officials and created new top posts to make sure gender justice, and to initiate community based policing.
  • This reorganization is the first of is kind after Ramesh Chennithala was constituted as the Home Minister, and it is one of his priorities.
  • To ensure dignity and safety of women, posts like Additional Director-General of Police, Community Policing, Gender Justice and Home Guards have been constituted, and the Minister has been repeatedly emphasizing on these developments.
  • Community policing will largely focus on foreseeing and reducing the communal crimes and thereby causing deterrent to criminal. It will also help in preventing the victimization of marginalized groups of society due to divisive and radical ideologies.
