February 17, 2014 by AmbitionIAS Leave a Comment

  • National Liberation Front of Tripura, an extremist group of the past, had surrendered under the leadership of Suren Debbarma. Now, they have decided to go on a fast as a form of agitation to push for the ten point demand, laid down by them.
  • Some of the highlights of these demands are – withdrawing of court cases against them, protection, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Suren Debbarma has complained that NLFT not received the basic facilities, which the surrendering rebels are normally entitled for. These basic facilities are providing of homes, medical support for free, education for children, and monthly compensation plan, so that they are able to sustain themselves in the mainstream communities.
