- Charge was filed against the ministry that they destroyed 1.5 lakh files along with Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination file
- Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh clarified to the gathered members in the house that Mahatma Gandhi assassination related files are safe and is in the custody of National Archives
- The files were cleared in order to improve work culture and environment, including hygiene and cleanliness of the work space
- Around 11,100 files were destroyed and none of the files are destroyed relate to either Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri or Lord Mountbatten as alleged by the honorable MP
- Fifty two files, 67 sets containing 11,186 pages relating to Mahatma Gandhi assassination are intact
- According to Mr.Rajeev destruction of files was a conspiracy by the government to whitewash the role of Hindutva elements in the assassination of Gandhi, while the ministry will respond to the statement
