Fast-track recording of rape victims’ statements: SC

• SC order recording of rape victims and witnesses’ statements on fast track basis to avoid repeated recording of statement for quick trial
• Asks probing officers to take victim to a woman metropolitan judicial magistrate for this purpose under section 164 Cr PC
• A sealed cover containing evidence recording of victim statement will be admissible in course of trial.
• Apex court orders distribution of copies of order in this regard to states DGPs CPs in UTs and metropolitan cities.
