February 15, 2014 by AmbitionIAS Leave a Comment

“Let’s not put up with extremism”

  • ‘The Hindus: An Alternative History’ is an analytical book written by Wendy, a great scholar of Sanskrit and Hinduism.
  • Though it is a well researched book, it has created a huge controversy among some folks in India. The opposition to the book is due the fact that the writer is foreigner, which is quite absurd.
  • The book is all about the old Hindu cultures, and it speaks about men and women enjoying sex and sexuality. Wendy has proved it through extensive research.
  • Mr. Dinanth Batra is against the book, and has petitioned against it in the court. According to Mr. Batra and other petitioners, the book is against Indian culture and the ideology of ‘Bhartiya nari’.
  • However, supporters of the book state that, any book that speaks about our culture, religion and country in a intellectual manner should be welcomed. Indian culture is not all about superiority and inferiority.

Exams Perspective:
