DGCA Asks SpiceJet to Refrain From Predatory Pricing

April 2, 2014 by KRS Leave a Comment

Stop the offer, DGCA tells airline

  • Terming its offer of Re. 1 fare across domestic networks as predatory and malpractice under Rule 135 of the Aircraft Rules, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directed SpiceJet to scrap the offer immediately.
  • Rule 135 says: “When the DGCA is satisfied that any air transport undertaking has established excessive or predatory tariff…or has indulged in oligopolistic practice, he may, by order, issue directions to such air transport undertaking.”

Exams Perspective:

  1. Predatory Pricing
  2. Low-cost Airlines
