Court Calls for Exploring Possibility to Reform Rape & Murder Convicts

  • Delhi High Court keeps in abeyance hearing on death sentence of a rapist, asks Home department if convict can be rehabilitated, reformed
  • Court directs Govt of National Capital Territory to submit a report in this regard and inquire about conduct of convict in jail
  • PO to meet with family members, seek opinion of local people, visit native place if needed to find out if accused could be reformed
  • PO to seek opinion of experienced experts in clinical psychology and sociology to get more info on behaviour pattern of accused
  • PO to submit its report to court in 10 weeks, accused to be presented before court on July 11
