CM Vows To Develop Villages As Growth Engines

  • Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu vowed to transform villages into growth engines through his ‘smart village’ mission.
  • The Chief Minister undertook a ‘padayatra’ from this village to Nidadavole after traversing through the dusty and narrow countryside roads for 18 km.
  • The padayatra was held in commemoration of the 19th death anniversary of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao.
  • Chief Minister unveiled roadmaps for development of villages
  • In justification to his act he said it  would draw people who had migrated to urban centres in pursuit of employment to their native places in the near future.
  • He also sought to dispel the impression gaining ground among some sections that the smart village programme was technology-driven and intended to help the rich.
  • He went round BC and SC colonies and received direct feedback from beneficiaries on the old age pension scheme and other welfare programmes.
  • The Chief Minister called upon the non-resident Indians to join the smart village mission
  • He hailed a contractor for extending financial help for setting up a water plant under the NTR Srujala Sravanti scheme at Settipet.
  • The padayatra was marked by minor protests by a section of unemployed youth seeking eligibility to take the District Selection Committee (DSC) examination for Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts.
