- Cisco and Electronics City Industrial Association (ELCIA) are together developing Asia’s first Internet of Things (IoT) lab in Bangalore, where sensor-based technology will be deployed to create smart city environment on the likes those developed in Barcelona, Songdo and Hamburg.
- Cisco is setting up network infrastructure consisting of rugged equipments connected to back ends. This will be followed by software testing. By December the smart city is likely to be running.
- Smart city concept has been on the agenda of the new govt with the PM wanting to establish 100 cities, and Cisco officials met govt officials to discuss the same. talks are on with several state govts as well.
- Electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) start up companies are likely to develop various solutions on the IoT platform for smart surveillance, smart street lighting, smart safety/security, smart traffic management and smart parking. Cisco’s Smart+Connected City Wifi solution will be an integral part of the project.
