Road map for ‘Crimean Spring’
- Crimea’s referendum on whether to join Russia or stay with Ukraine, referred to as ‘Crimean Spring’ is being held with the help of Russian forces in the Black Sea Peninsula.
- 1200 polling booths, 1.5 million ballots for the voters have been set up. Polls are receiving wide media coverage. Facebook page ‘Openpresscentr’, twitter handle @crimea_gov and website referendum2014.ru are posting regular updates.
- Ukranian soldiers in bases surrounded by Russian forces free to vote, but are apparently facing obstacles from their commanders.
- Russia’s Black Sea fleet are housed in Simferopol and Sevastopol, concert stages are being set up here to announce results which are expected by March 17.
