Bugging Row Rocks Parliament

July 31, 2014 by Admin Leave a Comment

  • Parliament was surprised as they suspected bugging of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s residence leading to repeated suspension in both the houses
  • Rajya Sabha was stopped in between and also during zero hour as congress members sought a statement; however government rejected the demand for a probe, few members asked for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to know who authorised the snooping
  • Union Minister denied the probe and congress members persisted for a probe blaming that the government is hiding facts as this is a serious matter and phones of ministers are being trapped
  • Another leader from congress told that the House proceedings were disturbed for a week during UPA rule when phone records of the then Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley were scrutinized, responding to this Mr.Jaitley said, “There is a difference between fiction and reality”
  • Union minister did not agree the allegations of a powerful listening device was installed, however Mr.Gadkari has not made any complaint regarding the allegations
  • Mr.Mallikarjun Kharge spoke about a previous incident, an affidavit filed by the then DIG of Police in Gujarat, alleging that phones of as many as 29,000 people were tapped [in the State] and sought a statement from the Prime Minister. He also sought a probe into the matter
  • Mr.Gadkari denied the allegations, the Union Law Minister told that the congress was taking an advantage over the issue”
  • He further opined ““We all know that the Congress has been decisively defeated in this election. We all can understand their desperation. We also know they are bereft of any issue, but that does not mean that non-issues are made into an issue,”
