- After stern protests from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest, Delhi Government and environmentalists, the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) has banned tourism activities in the Mangar Bani grove in Haryana.
- The 250 hectare region and a 500m buffer radius around it has been classified as a “no-construction zone”, especially in the regions of Aravallis, riverbeds and major water bodies.
- Earlier, Haryana govt had proposed to allow more construction in the sensitive zones, which prompted uproar. The decision permits only recreational activities with no construction exceeding 0.5 per cent of the area with permission from competent authorities.
