- Railway projects that are ongoing Rs. 17,838 crore fro completion and in the past 5 years the average expenditure is Rs.711 crore
- By this rate the project will take 25years for completion, of the ongoing projects 16 new lines with a sanctioned length of 2,095 km and nine projects pertaining to doubling of 584 km rail line have to be completed
- Around 225 km track has been laid and track doubling of 144 km has been completed so far
- By 2014-15 a target of adding 57 km of new lines has been set up and completion of new lines alone will require about Rs. 14,421 crore, while track doubling will require Rs. 3,405 crore
- Karnataka has taken up major projects on a cost-sharing basis and some important projects being taken up by the Railways under a non-cost sharing basis as well
- Planning Commission has approved cost sharing basis work are yet to be taken up, these are the projects of cost sharing Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davangere new line (200 km), Shimoga-Harihar new line (79 km) and Gadag-Wadi new line (252 km)
