Article 370 Debate Interrupted With Heated Exchanges

  • An NGO organized debate between the National Conference and the BJP on the controversial Article 370, was interrupted with hostile slogans shouting, heated exchanges, and confrontations. This article grants Jammu and Kashmir with the special statutory status.
  • Pakistani Refugees and BJP supporters shouted slogans at the leader of NC, Devender Singh Rana and confronted him, because he supported the continuation of Article 370, but he stood his ground.
  • He said that, even the top leaders of BJP believe and know that the Article 370 would never ever go out of the constitution, because it bridges the rest of India with J&K. People not wanting the act to remain in the constitution are simply exhibiting ‘majoritarian arrogance‘
  • BJP argues that the article is preventing the developmental plans from reaching beyond the Lakhanpur border of Jammu and Punjab. The developmental plans aimed at helping the poor and backward class are not being implemented in J&K because of this article.
