Akash bang on target in flight test

  • The surface-to-air missile, Akash, has successfully been flight-tested by the Indian Army, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation, and it was bang on the target
  • It includes an all-weather weapon system. Its air defence system is greatly helpful with the defence strategies during the aerial attacks. It can engage in the adversarial flying mode for a maximum distance of 25 KM. It has the ability to target the fighter aircrafts, cruise missiles, and helicopters.
  • It is sensitive to incoming threats and enemy planes, and it can engage multiple targets at a time. It can be easily transported by road, rail, or air. It comes under C4I category, namely, command, control, computers and communication, and intelligence.
