Aircraft Bid: Eight International Manufacturers Respond to HAL

The ambitious Indian regional civil aircraft plane programme has eight international manufacturers have responded
The military aircraft producer will now upgrade the search (technically called an RFI or request for information) with a request for proposal (RFP) for the engine.
The proposed HAL-NAL joint company has received all in-principle approvals
National Aerospace Labs under the CSIR will jointly nurture and see the 70-or-90-seater passenger plane project through.
HAL’s Aero Engine Research and Design Centre put out the RFI in December last year seeking cost and technical details of a fuel-frugal integrated propulsion system;
the engine would power what is to be an Indian twin-engine regional plane
Once the engine is suited for the Indian capabilities then the work will start immediately
The defence public enterprise hosted a brainstorming session with over 100 potential industrial suppliers to the civil programme and soon will be a reality by 2020-22
