Agricultural Varsity Moots Collective Action to Control Bud Rot Disease in Coconut

  • Joint efforts by farmers to check deadly fungal disease bud rot in coconut plants during monsoon rains underlined by Kerala Agricultural University.
  • KAU proposes Compact Area Group Approach by farmers before onset of monsoons to control the disease, action by some farmers of no use.
  • Disease is the result of fungus Phytophthora palmivora, KAU scientists observed is strong presence in Kannur, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts.
