AAP Challenges President’s Rule Decision in Supreme Court
- AAP has filed a petition in Supreme Court to challenge the recommendation decision of Lieutenant-Governor on President’s Rule for Delhi. They say that similar special treatment was given to the former CM Sheila Dikshit to let her of the hook on charges of corruption.
- AAP fears that, the President’s Rule would cause serious impediments to the ongoing investigations on the corruption charges and FIRs lodged by them. They have also alleged that the vested interests are behind the Delhi Assembly still not being dissolved.
- It would only lead to frustrating the investigating officers, as they will face resistance from the charged ministers in the office. They say that early elections will not be welcomed by the ministers, on whom the charges are registered.
- Neither Congress, nor BJP wants to form government, and in this scenario, imposing President’s rule will violate Article 14 of the Constitution.
