- Karnataka govt to add 10 markets under Unified Market Platform (UMP) for giving farmers remunerative prices for produce through electronic auctioning
- Another 25 such agricultural markets to be set up under 3rdphase of the scheme in September 2014
- UMP started in February through the Rashtriya e-Marketing Services (ReMS) in Karnataka enables traders to take part in auction from anywhere in country
- UMP currently operational in agricultural markets of Chamarajanagar, Arsikere, Tiptur in Karnataka
- Under second phase UMP will be expanded to cover Gulbarga, Bidar, Sedam, Yadgir, Raichur, Gadag, Bijapur, Chitradurga, Challakere and Tumkur
