15 killed as Shells hit U.N.Shelter

  • U.N.School compound was hit by Israeli tank shells killing 15 people and many injured against the 17 day war against the territory’s Hamas rulers
  • The strike occurred while the civilians were being evacuated by U.N on busses when three tanks were three shell tanks hit in the north west of Beit Hanoum
  • However Israeli military said it was reviewing the incident and suggested Hamas rockets may have been to blame, although it offered no proof
  • As per Israel the war is to put a pause the rocket fire from Palestinian militants in Gaza to destroy sophisticated network of cross border tunnels
  • Between the Israel and Palestinian fight this is the fourth time the U.N. facility is being affected, UNRWA the Palestinian refugee agency told they have found militants rockets inside two vacant schools
  • Israeli military is reviewing the incident telling that rockets launched by Hamas had landed in the Beit Hanoun area during fighting with its forces, and that those rockets may be responsible for the deaths
  • U.N said asked the Israel and Hamas abide by international humanitarian law, Palestinian death toll has reached 751 while Israel has lost 32 soldiers, when it widened its air campaign into a full-scale ground operation two Israeli civilians and a Thai worker in Israel have also lost their life
  • British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has requested Hamas to accept humanitarian ceasefire post which Israel and Palestinian Authority will hold talks
  • Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister did not mention the ceasefire efforts in underscoring his determination to neutralise the rocket and tunnel threats.
  • Israel military has covered 30 tunnels and 2000 rockets have been fired and a few of which have been used by Hamas to carry out attacks
  • Israel law makers swore in Reuven Rivlin from the hard-line Likud party as the country’s new president, replacing Nobel Peace laureate Shimon Peres whose term has ended.
